Our Story

This nonprofit was formed by several active and former police officers. The founder spent a majority of his career on the motorcycle unit where he attended more than 100 officers funerals. During that time he saw the anguish surviving family members were going through.
We know that there are a lot of resources out there to help these families with their bills, mortgages and childrens education. We saw that there was a lack of programs that focused on the surviving families mental health and rebuilding of happiness and togetherness as they move forward. That is where we step in. We will help these families regain footing mentally by helping provide therapy if needed and allow them to share experiences that are custom to each individual family. While they share these experiences, the hope is to rebuild that sense of family togetherness that strengthens bonds and creates happiness.
Meet the Team
Founder: Jesse Myers
Jesse is currently an active Police Officer and has worked with the same department for 25 years. Over that career he has spent the last 20 years on the motorcycle unit. Part of that units duties is to attend the funerals of fallen officers across the state of Georgia. Unfortunately over that timespan he has attended over 100 officers funerals, which gave him the motivation to found this non-profit after seeing the effects these events had on the surviving family members.
Co-Founder: Dawn Myers
Dawn is married to Jesse and has been by his side through all he has endured as a police officer. She has spent over 20 years in the medical field, so she is experienced in helping those in need and loves serving her community.
Our board and support team bring experience in law enforcement, nonprofit work, and trauma-informed care. We may be a small team, but we are driven by heart, purpose, and the belief that no grieving family should walk alone.
Current and other founding board members:
Abby Bartkowiak brings creativity, heart, and a steady presence to the foundation's behind-the-scenes efforts. A proud police wife and mom of two, she helps manage our social media outreach while quietly supporting our mission every step of the way.
Mike and Melissa Etheridge are passionate supporters of the foundation, giving generously of both their time and resources. Mike is a police officer and licensed realtor, while Melissa balances real estate with organizational know-how and a gift for fresh ideas. Together, they volunteer behind the scenes, raise a family, and play a key role in helping our mission thrive.
Buffy Bussell quietly keeps things moving behind the scenes managing the foundation's website, assisting with research, and volunteering at events whenever needed. A proud police wife, retired Navy spouse, and mom of three grown children serving in the military, she brings steady support and genuine heart to every part of the mission.
Patrick Faulkner spent 15 years in law enforcement, serving in multiple departments and as a K9 officer at a local college. After starting his own business, he was drawn to this foundation's mission and quickly stepped in to support the families of fallen heroes.
Shawn Mycols is an active police officer with the Gwinnett County DUI Unit in Special Operations. After learning about the formation of this nonprofit, he reached out on his own to join the board and is committed to helping as many families as possible.
Thad Timpson is a retired Gwinnett County Police Officer with over 20 years of service, including 13 on the motorcycle unit. After attending far too many officer funerals, he felt called to be part of a mission focused on supporting the families left behind.
We honor fallen heroes by supporting the families they leave behind. Here's who we are and why we do what we do.
